Hiring Process

With call volume increasing every year, it is imperative for SCCAD to continue its tradition of recruiting highly skilled clinicians and support staff to deliver exceptional patient care.

Several times each year, the District runs paramedic hiring processes.  Generally, these occur in January, May and September, but additional processes may be initiated based on need within the organization.

Individuals interested in paramedic positions must possess a valid Missouri EMT-P license and complete an application.  If the candidate meets the required qualifications, he or she will take part in a multi-part selective hiring process:

Written Exam

Candidates will be invited to SCCAD’s headquarters facility to take a proctored multiple-choice exam designed to test knowledge learned in a paramedic education program.

Practical Exam

In a controlled environment with multiple evaluators, candidates will be provided details on a particular type of call and be asked to provide simulated patient care. Individuals will be evaluated on their ability to interpret information/data, and provide treatment based on normal accepted standards.

Interview Panel

Candidates will be invited to a traditional interview with a hiring panel made up of SCCAD Team Members from multiple levels within the organization.

For administrative and non-clinical positions, a more traditional process is followed. Open positions are posted on the District’s hiring platform, after which applications, resumes, and cover letters are reviewed to determine which candidates will be invited to interview for the position.
