Emergency Division

The largest department at St. Charles County Ambulance District is our Emergency Division – 160 paramedics working 24/7/365 to respond to 9-1-1 emergencies that occur within our 592 square mile service area.  More than 150 dedicated clinicians make up this team that collectively responds to tens of thousands of calls annually.

Each of the 21 advanced life support ambulances that make up the emergency division is staffed with two paramedic-level practitioners. Ambulances operate from 17 stations that are strategically located throughout St. Charles County.

At SCCAD, our goal is to respond to 9-1-1 emergencies in the core of our community in under 8 minutes and 59 seconds – a target that the emergency division attained on more than 95 percent of calls last year.

Paramedics in our emergency division work 48-hour shifts, responding to a wide array of calls within our community each day.
