Since 2010, the District has partnered with State Farm Insurance and St. Charles City-County Library District to increase visibility of children who are trick-or-treating and enhance awareness among drivers on October 31.
Each year, SCCAD paramedics offer a series of Halloween Safety programs at library branches throughout the community, covering a variety of safety tips for young children to keep in mind when out collecting candy. In addition, kids will take a tour of the ambulance, make a Halloween craft, and hear a not-too-spooky story.
At safety sessions and other events throughout the month of October, paramedics provide glow-in-the-dark bracelets intended to be worn by children on Halloween night. The bracelets are purchased using grant funds generously provided by State Farm.
